We endeavor to display color as accurately as possible but, due to monitor variations, your monitor may display the yarns differently than they appear in real life. We also attempt to display the yarns in the bases listed as often as possible. However, we source most of our photographs from our vendors, and since every color is not listed in every base the color may be represented on a base different from the one you are purchasing. Please email or call us if you have ANY questions about the yarn base and color prior to purchase! Your happiness is our every desire!
Petra is the super talented dyer behind the immensely popular and sought after Black Elephant yarns. Slovakian by by birth, Petra's love for yarn and knitting was rekindled in 2010 when she relocated to South Yorkshire and found herself craving the warmth of wool.
Trained as an architect, Petra has put aside her old vocation to concentrate on creating magic with colours and wool, and we are so so glad! She's inspired by her natural surroundings, and dyes in her environmentally responsible studio.
We think her colours are mesmerising on this Superwash Merino Singles base!
I was introduced to and fell in love with The Sated Sheep during the Best Little Yarn Crawl in Texas in October 2019. The folks who work there are wonderful, and the selection of yarn is spectacular. I don't live in Dripping Springs, so I can't visit the shop regularly. BUT, they have almost all of their merchandise for purchase on their website. The pictures and descriptions are clear enough that I feel very confident buying yarn unseen. My orders have arrived very quickly (yay!). This is my first online purchase of Black Elephant merino singles. I have not knitted the yarn yet, but it feels great and the colorway is gorgeous. The yarn is a little thinner than I was expecting. More lace weight than fingering weight. That doesn't matter to me, though. I am going to make a lace scarf with it, so gauge isn't critical. I highly, HIGHLY recommend The Sated Sheep.
Thank you so so much, Cass for the lovely review! It really means the world to us that you're happy! I think you'll find that the Black Elephant blooms a bit when you knit and block it so your gauge will be closer to fingering! Enjoy!
