Black Elephant

Petra moved from her native Slovakia to the UK over 10 years ago and rediscovered her love of knitting, started a blog, and began making instructional knitting videos in her native tongue. Eventually she began dyeing yarn and Black Elephant was created. The company name was inspired by a cute little elephant on the cover of Petra's knitting journal combined with her surname, Schwarz, which means black in German.

Petra says that "after looking for meanings of elephant I found out that to the Hindu way of thought, the elephant is found in the form of Ganesha who is the god of luck and is a blessing upon all new projects which is the most fitting for my yarn adventure. My Black Elephant is my blessing. I hope you will enjoy my hand dyed yarns and kits."
